Last week I made a small change to my Through the Viewfinder setup. Instead of using my 20D with the 18-55mm kit lens, I’m now using the 50mm 1.8 with 6x worth of close-up filters. The 50mm gives me the flexibility of wider aperture when I need more light and/or want nice blurry edges like the photo above. The 50mm is also a smaller lens, which makes for a better fit with the Pringles can I currently use as a contraption. With the 18-55mm, changing the camera position would often move the zoom ring or bump the AF/MF switch into the wrong setting, usually at very inopportune times.
